Vein Treatments

Broken blood vessels (broken capillaries, spider veins), reticular veins (green/blue larger veins) and cherry angiomas (tiny red spots) occur mostly on the face, neck, chest and legs.

There is a long list of causes for these vascular issues; the most common causes include trauma, sun damage and circulatory issues involving regular and prolonged standing, repetition and pressure associated with crossed legs while sitting, or circulatory issues resulting from excessive weight.

Periorbital blue veins and hand veins also are common concerns. Both become more noticeable with age, as collagen production slows, elastin weakens and skin becomes thinner.

excel V is the treatment of choice for broken blood vessels and other vascular issues for face and body, including cherry angiomas and visible veins around eyes (periorbital blue veins). Dermal Fillers is the treatment of choice for hands. Sclerotherapy is an option for broken blood vessels in legs, and is the preferred treatment for veins below the knees or for varicose veins. Typically only 10-40 veins can be treated in a session. Multiple treatments with either excel V or Sclerotherapy may be required for best results.

Sclerotherapy generally is the treatment of choice for veins below the knees or varicose veins, but is highly effective for all leg vein issues. The treatment involves injections of a sclerosing agent, such as saline, directly into damaged veins. This agent irritates the inner lining of the vein, causing it to collapse and fade. Typically, 10-40 veins will be injected per session. Results are not immediate, and several treatments may be necessary for best results.

For varicose veins or extensive vascular issues below the knees, we will refer you to a vascular specialist.

Dermal Fillers for Hands

The most popular treatment for aging hands is injections of dermal fillers to mask these visible veins and to restore a more youthful look and feel to hands. Regular use of retinoids and sunscreen also prove to increase skin density and resilience to the effects of aging.
